Devine Intervention

STRIKER Jordan Devine bagged a goal against Larkhall Juniors before limping off after a hefty tackle.
The Thorn ace, pictured back right, was part of the Caledonian League Select side that secured a hard-fought 5-4 win but now faces a race to be fit for this weekend’s trip to Rothesay.
The friendly game was the Select’s final match before their forthcoming Inter-League Semi Final tie with Ayrshire Amateurs.
The game started dramatically with  three goals in the first five minutes. Larkhall opened the scoring after only one minute before David Kneale netted a fine equaliser two minutes later.
The Thistle edged ahead on five minutes with a close-range strike after a break down the Caley left.
The reshuffled Caley side gradually found their rhythm and two fine finishes from Thorn’s Devine and Cameron McCulloch gave the Select a deserved 3-1 interval lead.
The Caledonian side controlled the early stages of the second half. They edged into what looked like an unassailable 5-2 lead with further goals from David Kneale and Connor McCann.
However, Larkhall rallied and pulled one back with 20 minutes remaining. Another opportunist strike on 80 minutes made it 5-4. The Caledonian Select regained their composure and saw the game out to record a hard-earned victory.
